What a journey it is!!! My family proudly calls Oakesdale home after moving from Denver, CO in the summer of 2008. I am so lucky to live here and have the greatest job in the world! While growing up in a suburb of Denver, going to a very large high school, I began my work at Target, where I stayed for almost 10 years. I began my management career there and had the opportunity to work in Denver, Seattle, and back to Denver. I learned a lot while working there which has helped me much as an educator. Most important though, I am very lucky to be constantly entertained by and with my 3 wonderful children. They all love sports, love school, and have some of their own unique likes as well. Tanner is the oldest, Madison (Maddy) is in the middle, and Garrett is the youngest. I earned my BA in History from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO and used that degree to teach middle school Social Studies in my 3 years as a classroom teacher. After completing my MA in School Administration from the University of Phoenix, I immediately became the principal of the school I taught at; and shortly thereafter (1 year) became the superintendent of that same district. Mixed into that superintendency was a short stint as an elementary and middle school principal. Being the principal is the best job in the world. Since I love going to school so much, I am on the road to becoming Dr. Jake. I am in the process of writing my dissertation, which has me on the path to complete my Doctorate in Education in December of 2009. Our family is
close. We love to take road trips Ð usually spur of the moment Ð we love to
play games together, and the kids have found an interest in skiing. As a
former member of the National Ski Patrol, I can once again enjoy the sport,
and have even attempted snow boarding.Ð I prefer the skis. We laugh a lot,
value our time together, and if we are not outside at a sporting event or the
park, we do enjoy quiet time at
home, reading (I love history and autobiographies), cooking (I make a mean
green chili), or watching TV (movies too). |
