I started
teaching science and math at Oakesdale in the fall of 1989 after receiving
a Masters Degree at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. My
undergraduate studies were completed at the University of Washington where I
earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology.
I have two sons
who also attend(ed) Oakesdale High School. Alex is a 2007 graduate who is
now at WSU. Brandon is three and a half years younger and will graduate in
2010. My wife, Rachel, is postmaster at Oakesdale Post Office. As parents
we feel lucky to have both found work in town and appreciate the advantages
of raising our family in a small town atmosphere.
My work as a teacher has been very rewarding. I feel
honored to be able to teach what I feel are important concepts to high
school students. Much of my efforts go toward making the science and math
material applicable to their lives. As citizens in a free democratic and
technologically advanced society, I feel it is important for them to leave here
with a basic understanding of science and math concepts. My goal is to
provide that knowledge to each graduate of Oakesdale High.
